How the Chakras May Help Explain Energy Healing's Effectiveness.

Many find that the theory of the Chakras and the individual characteristics that have been given to each chakra are helpful in understanding how Energy Healing works. Grounding is revolutionary for chakra theory because it shows by means of deep experiences how the first two chakras are basic. It reverses the priority that has usually been given to the higher chakras in almost all modes of meditation by demonstrating how the higher are dependent on the lower and can be made much clearer and more powerful when grounded.

The first Chakra, also called the root chakra, which is located near the perineum, has been associated with survival, vitality and basing oneself in physical life as well as ruling the legs, knees and feet. It is often represented as having four spokes standing for the square of foundations, which echoes the four energies (earth, air, fire, water) and four cardinal directions. It is taken to be the colour red, which is also the lowest frequency of visible light for humans, and to be especially related to the sense of “smell”, which is also basic because it is believe to be the first sense that awakens upon our physical birth. When our first chakra is activated, it is said that spirit comes to live in matter and behavior then becomes directed by an embodied spirit that is integrated with our body and within the earth.

The first chakra is thought of as being the basis of both our masculine and feminine energies. It has been described for example as being responsible for bringing our feminine, physically manifested, energy up into our bodies and masculine, spiritually unmanifested, energy down into our bodies. Additionally, it represents for some our masculine will and male sexual organs as well as the feminine energy of the Goddess Kundalini. Nonetheless, it is stressed that a man can learn to integrate his feminine power and a woman can learn to integrate her masculine power through the clearing and opening of this chakra.

Some have explained how our chakras interact with our physical system by claiming that they are connected with a specific endocrine gland and nerve plexus, the adrenal gland for the first chakra. Each gland, which is internally related to the other glands, then is said to be able to work closely with the nervous and circulatory system, with its secretions being vital for the health of the entire system.
